Service Projects

The Club gives three awards at the Awards Banquet every year in March.
The members of the Service Committee select the recipients of these awards after independent judging.
The Violet Richardson Award:
This award honors young women for volunteer action. The recipient is a student between the ges of 14 and 17 who makes the community a better place through volunteer efforts. A monetary award is given to both the student and her volunteer organization.
The recipient will be entered to compete for additional cash awards at the Regional and Federation award levels.
The Women’s Opportunity Award:
This monetary award is given to a woman who is the head of household returning to college. At various levels $1 million is disbursed annually through the Women’s Opportunity Awards by Soroptimist Clubs, Regions and the Federation. The program to helps women reclaim their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families.
The Women Helping Women Award:
Recognition is given to a local woman who has given service to her community. In the past this award has gone to the founder of a local service non-profit organization or an individual who demonstrates outstanding service to her an organization. A monetary donation is made to the organization designated by the award recipient..
The winners recipients of each of these awards are submitted to the Regional Board and can may go on to win additional award money from the Region and Federation Boards.
The Club also participates in the Campaign to End Domestic Violence.
The Club plans an activity that promotes the need for public awareness of Domestic Violence and provides resources for women needing assistance in a crisis situation.
The Saturday of Service:
We assist the organizers of the Expanding Your Horizons Conference whose mission is to encourage young women to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers.The President’s Appeal:
A monetary donation is requested from each Club in the Federation for a service project that the President of Soroptimist International of the Americas has selected.
